My favorite part of Camp NaNoWriMo is that it’s more self-directed; you can pick your own word count, and the “rules” about what kind of project you want to work on are more open.
So I decided to participate, even though I’m not starting a new story. Instead, I’m going to continue worldbuilding — writing brief descriptions of settings, characters, and basic story plotlines. My word count goal is 15,000, which is comes out to 500 words a day for April. I type roughly 80–90 words per minute, so I can reach my word count in less than 10 minutes (unless I start procrastinating, and if that happens, reaching 500 can literally take all day). But writing for only 10 minutes a day is very manageable and shouldn’t cause undue stress.
Hopefully I get some good stuff out of this; I did something similar for NaNo 2012 and was greatly inspired then. Good luck to you if you’re going camping this April!
