1. I’m writing this draft (don’t know if I mentioned its title yet, but I’m calling it “PAUL” to go along with all the other “male biblical character” titles I have) by hand, which is an odd experience because it brings me back to a time when time wasn’t a worry. For some reason, I don’t rush as much when I write by hand, probably because I write slower than I type and perhaps because I’m not sitting in front of a computer when I’m writing longhand. So writing has felt like more of a break instead of “work,” if that makes any sense.
2. PAUL is also the story of a minor character who was an even more minor character in another story featuring another character who also used to be a minor character in yet another story (wow, that was hard to follow, even in my head). The point is that characters really do develop minds of their own and like to venture off on their own paths, so we, as writers, have to decide whether it’d be worth it to follow them and whether this character really does have a worthwhile story to tell.
3. Before April, I had been revising the outlines of RAFAEL and STEPHEN, the stories that take place before PAUL. Now I have no idea where I left off with those because I have been too busy writing for Camp NaNo. I suppose that’s all right for now, but woe to me when it’s May 1 and I have not a clue in the world how to get back to where I was…
So how’s your writing?
