The April session of Camp NaNoWriMo ended yesterday. Congratulations to all who met their word count goals, and congratulations even to all those who did not meet their goals this time! In the world of NaNoWriMo, there are no true “losers,” so if you got only 500 words, you can still consider yourself a winner. In that case, your idea, even just 500 words of it, is down on paper and out of your head. You can always return to it, tinker with it, and let it keep inspiring you.
I had to give up on Camp NaNoWriMo when I was not even halfway through, mostly because trying to meet yet another deadline would have made my head explode. Work and life and reality took me out of the fantasy world I had created for myself, but I have enough written down so I can easily return to that world later on. So I don’t consider it a “loss.”
So… for those of you who have finished (or even if you didn’t finish), what are you planning to do with your draft? Do you eventually want to get it published? Will you write a sequel? Are you going to participate in the July session of Camp NaNo?
